How to delete your data and account

#privacy#data-deletion

This page explains how to permanently delete your Pothik account and every piece of data tied to it. Deletion is irreversible — once it completes, your account and its data cannot be recovered.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes everything scoped to you, including:

  • Projects, tasks, notes, journal entries and tags
  • Finance data — accounts, budgets, transactions and reports
  • Health records, the notebook, drawings, mindmaps and calendar events
  • Uploaded files and attachments in storage
  • Your profile, settings and sign-in methods (Google, GitHub, Facebook or passkey)

Because your data is scoped to you at the database level, nothing of yours remains after deletion.

Export a copy first (optional)

If you want to keep your data, export it before deleting — there is no way to retrieve it afterwards.

  1. Sign in and go to Settings.
  2. In the Data section, choose Export to download a single file with everything you've created.

Delete your account

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Open Settings and scroll to the Delete account section.
  3. Click Delete account, then Send confirmation email.
  4. We email a confirmation link to your address. Open it and click the link to complete deletion. The link expires in 24 hours.
  5. The confirmation page removes your account and all associated data immediately and permanently.

This two-step email confirmation protects your account — deletion only happens after you click the link we send you.

Can't sign in?

If you signed in with Google, GitHub or Facebook and can no longer access your account, or you removed the app from your social provider before deleting, you can still request deletion. Reach us through the support channel listed in your account settings and we'll remove your data on your behalf after verifying your identity.

How long it takes

Deletion is immediate once you click the confirmation link — your account and data are removed at that moment. Routine backups are rotated out on a short schedule shortly afterwards.
